Carved A Heart
(Linda Dahl - Brett Perkins - Klaus Caprani)
Carved a heart into a tree
For the whole wide world to see
Declaration of our love
Then an arrow from above
Had we known that years from then
We’d live separate lives again
Think we should have had in mind
Not to hurt that lonesome pine
This old tree On the mountain.
Wears it’s scars in silent peace
Doesn’t cry like a child when it’s parents decide
To break up what was her family
This ol’ winter wears me down
Snow is covering the ground
Hides away this lonely heart
Light is low now we’re apart
Knowing seasons gonna change
Still we’re aching and estranged
Soon the ice is on retreat
Our old sign of love revealed
This old tree On the mountain.
Wears it’s scars in silent peace
Doesn’t cry like a child when it’s parents decide
To break up what was her family
As we grow on through the years
Through those times of joy and tears
We get older, we get wise
Have the love back in our eyes
And the tree’s still standing tall
Bigger now than we recall
With this heartshape in it’s bark
Where our young love left it’s mark
This old tree On the mountain.
Wears it’s scars in silent peace
Doesn’t cry like a child when it’s parents decide
To break up what was her family
This old tree On the mountain.
Wears it’s scars in silent peace
Doesn’t cry like a child when it’s parents decide
To break up what was her family
To break up what was her family
