Carved a heart into a tree
For the whole wide world to see
Declaration of our love
Then an arrow from above

Had we known that years from then
We’d live separate lives again
Think we should have had in mind
Not to hurt that lonesome pine

Wears it’s scars in silent peace

To break up what was her family

This ol’ winter wears me down
Snow is covering the ground
Hides away this lonely heart
Light is low now we’re apart

Knowing seasons gonna change
Still we’re aching and estranged
Soon the ice is on retreat –
Our old sign of love revealed
